OIL CONSUMPTION (2.3L EFI) TURBOCHARGED ENGINE WITH SPEED CONTROL
FORD 1983-1/2-84 MUSTANG, T-BIRD
LINCOLN-MERCURY 1983-1/2-84 CAPRI, COUGAR
Excessive crankcase pressure, due to a restriction in the vent tube connector, may cause oil to leak out of the rocker cover vent tube and/or oil dipstick tube.
Figure 16:
In the event of customer concerns of oil consumption, the crankcase vent tube connector should be serviced as follows (Refer to Figure 16):
1. Disconnect the vent tube from the fitting.
2. Using a 1/4" drill bit as a GO/NO GO gage, insert into fitting. If GO, fitting is okay.
3. If NO GO, remove fining and enlarge through the hole in the fitting with a 9/32 inch drill.
4. Reinstall the fitting and torque to 24-35 N-m (18-26 ft.lbs.).
5. Connect the vent tube to the fitting 11-16 N-m (8-12 ft.lbs.). If the fining requires replacement, order part number E3ZZ-6A668-A.
