Oil consumption on some 2.0L and 2.3L engines may be caused by improperly installed valve stem seals.

Follow normal diagnostic procedures outlined in the 1983 Car/Truck Shop Manual Section 21 to verify proper engine compression and PCV system operation. Replace the valve stem seals using the procedure outlined in the respective Shop Manuals and assure that the seals are installed squarely and securely on the guides.
