Removal and Installation

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove fan shroud attaching screws and position shroud over fan.
3. Remove catalytic converter, then disconnect drive shaft from transmission.
4. Disconnect backup lamp electrical connector from transmission.
5. Remove transmission mount to crossmember attaching bolts.
6. Remove crossmember attaching bolts, then remove crossmember.
7. Remove three shifter assembly attaching bolts, then remove shifter assembly.
8. Disconnect speedometer cable from transmission.
9. Using a suitable jack to support transmission, remove four transmission to flywheel housing attaching bolts.
10. Remove transmission from vehicle.
11. Reverse procedure to install and torque:
a. Transmission to flywheel housing bolts, 35-45 ft lbs (47-60 Nm).
b. Shifter assembly attaching bolts, 17-24 ft lbs (23-32 Nm).
c. Crossmember attaching bolts, 28-40 ft lbs (37-54 Nm).
d. Transmission rear mount to crossmember attaching bolts, 50-70 ft lbs (67-94 Nm).
