Throttle Solenoid Positioner - Stalls On Deceleration

Intermittent tendency to stall during deceleration can be serviced by replacing the carburetor throttle speed positioner (TSP).

All With A/C

1. Inspect throttle solenoid positioner (TSP), if not part number E2AE-9E957-AB replace with E2AZ- 9S520-D.
2. Reinstall vacuum line to TSP.
3. Tape existing TSP hot lead to wiring harness (no longer used on replacement TSP).
4. Set idle speed in Drive to 550 RPM with the TSP deenergized (vacuum hose disconnected and plugged or A/C lever in off mode). Adjust at the saddle bracket screw.
All Non A/C

1. Inspect TSP, if not part number E2AE-9S520-BB replace with E2AZ-9S520-B.
2. Set idle speed in Drive to 550 RPM with the TSP energized using saddle bracket screw.
3. Set TSP off speed to 450 in Drive (TSP deenergized) using the curb idle screw.



Obtain an Authorized Modifications decal and list the date, dealer number and summary of alterations performed. Select a prominent place adjacent to the Vehicle Emission Control Information decal suitable for installing the Authorized Modifications decal. Clean the area, install the decal and cover it with a clear plastic decal shield.
