Ribbed drive belts should not be replaced due to sporadic rib cracking. This is a normal condition and actually improves belt flexibility.

When cracks have progressed to the point of rib "chunking", and NVH condition may result.

Belts should be replaced if two or more adjacent ribs have lost sections 10 mm (1/2") or longer, or if the belt causes an NVH condition.
