A new design hood latch is now available, with improved cable retention provisions. The new design hood latch assembly is to be installed when customer concerns related to hood latch cable retention on subject car lines is encountered. This article supersedes and cancels TSB Article 83-7-2, dated April 5, 1983. The new design incorporates a cable return spring.
FIGURE 4:
1. Open hood.
2. Remove hood latch assembly (2) bolts, remove hood latch cable retainer (1) attaching screw. Disengage cable and remove hood latch assembly.
3. Thread terminal end of cable into hood latch assembly return spring (Figure 4).
4. Rotate cable through latch "V" slot, position cable retainer to latch and install (1) screw to retain.
5. Position hood latch assembly and install (2) attaching bolts. Adjust latch assembly and torque attaching bolts.
6. Close hood and verify correct latch adjustment.
