Throttle Position Sensor - Non-Adjustable Design

83ford20 Article No. 83-6-13

EEC - NON-ADJUSTABLE THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR - 5.0L EFI ENGINES WITH EEC III - CFI

FORD 1983 CROWN VICTORIA

LINCOLN-MERCURY 1983 LINCOLN, MARK VI, CONTINENTAL, MERCURY MARQUIS

The throttle position sensor (TPS) released for 1983 is a non-adjustable design. Adjusting the throttle position sensor is not an approved service, even though a reference to a TPS adjustment is in the 1983 Emissions and Diagnostic manual.

The Emission and Diagnostic Manual, Section 4, Page 44, should be changed so that Step #4 is eliminated and a new step, #1a, following Step # 1, be added with pen to read, "Check that throttle position sensor is securely connected."
