SEAT CUSHION (FRONT) HEIGHT TOO LOW

This article will supersede TSB Article 83-8-1 by adding Thunderbird/Cougar to the applications.
To resolve concerns of seating position too low in driver's seat, install spacers between seat and seat track.
1. Remove the seat and track assembly from the vehicle. Refer to the appropriate removal procedure contained in Section 41 of the appropriate car shop manual.
2. Remove and discard the four (4) bolts used to retain the seat tracks to the seat cushion.

3. Install two (2) washers between the front seat track and the front seat cushion at each front seat mounting attachment (Figure 16).
4. Install the specified longer seat track attaching bolts (N801357-S2); torque the seat track to seat cushion attaching bolts to 12-24 N-m (9-18 ft.lbs.).
NOTE: If the seat is equipped with an inertia seat back latch, check the latch for proper operation (sensitivity test) before installing the seat assembly in the vehicle as specified in Part 41 of the appropriate car shop manual.
5. Install the seat and track assembly in the vehicle. Torque the seat track to floor pan attaching screws to 12-24 N-m (9-18 ft.lbs.).
6. Check the seat tracks for proper operation.
