Wiper/Washer - Low Fluid Light Flickers

83ford5 Article No. 83-24-7

WIPER/WASHER - LOSS OF WASHER FLUID

FORD 1983 THUNDERBIRD

LINCOLN-MERCURY 1983 COUGAR

Non-turbo vehicles built prior to August 1, 1983 may experience low washer fluid light flickering because of loss of washer fluid. These concerns have been directly linked to the fact that the cover of the washer reservoir is not sealed to the reservoir bottle.

Washer bottles for production now have hot-melt glue applied around the complete periphery of the reservoir. A service reservoir (Part No. E3ZZ-17618-E) with hotmelt glue has been released to service concerns of "leaking reservoir" or "low fluid warning light blinking", etc.

Refer to Shop Manual Section 35-70 for removal of washer bottle and transfer of old pump to new replacement reservoir.
