Cruise Control: Adjustments

BEAD CHAIN ADJUSTMENT

This adjustment should be made to remove as much slack as possible from the chain without restricting the carburetor lever from returning to the idle speed position. On vehicles equipped with a solenoid throttle positioner, the adjustment should be performed with the throttle positioner disengaged.

VACUUM DUMP VALVE

The vacuum dump valve is mounted on a movable mounting bracket. The valve should be adjusted so that it is closed when the brake pedal is not depressed and open when the brake pedal is depressed.

ACTUATOR CABLE ADJUSTMENT

1. Remove cable retaining clip.
2. On all carbureted models, deactivate the throttle positioner and set carburetor at hot idle.
3. On all models, pull the actuator cable to remove slack.
4. Insert cable retaining clip while maintaining light tension on the actuator cable.
