NOISE - CLICKING - EGR SOLENOID VALVE (1.6L EFI)

Vehicles which exhibit an EGR solenoid clicking noise in the passenger compartment can be serviced by installing a new EGR solenoid valve.

Locate the exhaust gas recirculating (EGR) solenoid vacuum valve on the left hand side of the dash panel extension.

Unbolt the EGR solenoid vacuum valve #E1EE-9D474- CC, and discard the mounting bolts and solenoid.

Install a new EGR vacuum solenoid valve E3FZ-9D474- C on the dash panel extension and secure with two (2) new nuts #N621905-S53 (Figure 19).



Obtain an Authorized Modifications decal and list the date, dealer number and summary of alterations performed. Select a prominent place adjacent to the Vehicle Emission Control Information decal suitable for installing the Authorized Modifications decal. Clean the area, install the decal and cover it with a clear plastic decal shield.
