Additional fuel filtering capacity can be provided for a customer experiencing recurring fuel contamination by installing a high capacity in-line filter.
For 1983 vehicles, remove the flexible fuel supply hose between the chassis fuel tube and the engine mounted fuel supply tube (located next to the right shock tower). Install a new fuel filter and hose assembly (E3EE- 9B248-AA) and attach the hose clamps.
NOTE: When installing the filter and hose assembly, note the flow direction arrow printed on the filter.
For 1981/82 vehicles, remove the flexible fuel supply hose from the engine. Before installing, remove the inlet hose from the new filter and hose assembly (E3EE- 9B248-AA) and replace it with a similar length of bulk fuel hose (part #381103) as required to minimize contact with adjacent components and eliminate kinking (adjustment of the outlet hose may be required). Install the new assembly and attach the hose clamps.
