DOOR GLASS (REAR) - "CLUNK NOISE" DURING CYCLING ON 4 DOORS AND WAGONS

FORD 1983 LTD

LINCOLN-MERCURY 1983 MARQUIS

FIGURE 2:

If on vehicles built before September 13, 1982, the rear door window glass jumps slightly and a "clunk" noise is heard when rolling the window up or down, service by replacing the rear door division bar. The above condition is caused by a loading notch in the division bar and has been removed on later built vehicles. The suspect division bar can be identified by comparing the division bar to Figure 2. Removal and installation of the division bar are shown in the 1983 Car Shop Manual, Section 42-24.
