A/T - C3 No Reverse After Rebuild

SUBJECT: C 3

PROBLEM: No reverse after rebuild

CAUSE:
May be a mispositioned checkball in valve body or blown rear servo cover gasket.




1973-1979 units should have the checkballs located as shown in Figure 1.




1980-1986 units should have the checkballs located as shown in Figure 2.

On the 1973-1979 units this may require re-locating the number 4 checkball.




Whenever in doubt, look where the arrow points on the separator plate in Figure 3.

If the separator plate has two holes, use the checkball location shown in Figure 1.

If the separator plate has one hole, use the checkball location shown in Figure 2.

It is sometimes necessary to use a metal reinforced rear servo cover gasket. Other types may blow out due to the high pressure used in reverse.
