NO START - EEC IV MODULE SATURATED WITH WATER - R.H. COWL SIDE, WELD SEALER SKIP


FORD 1984-85 MUSTANG

LINCOLN-MERCURY 1984-85 CAPRI

CALIBRATION: All with EEC IV


Water may leak through a sealer skip between the cowl side and upper cowl assembly. Leaking water falls onto EEC IV module resulting in no start condition. Service by sealing the cowl side. Replace the EEC processor.

Service Procedure for Water Leak From Right Hand Cowl Side of Vehicle

1. Remove right hand front wheel.

2. Remove right hand front splash shield. (See Shop Manual Page 47-04-4).

3. Remove right hand front fender assembly. (See Shop Manual Page 47-04-4).

4. Apply D6AZ-19560-A Body Caulk(Figure 16).

5. Apply D6AZ-19562-A Sealer along joint of lower cowl to cowl top assembly (Figure 17).
6. Replace right hand front fender assembly.

7. Replace right hand splash shield.

8. Replace right hand front wheel.

NOTE: Prior to re-assembly of fender, splash shield and wheel, water test the reworked area with a hose to assure that the water leak has been eliminated.
