The alternator mounting bracket brace may contact the front clamp on the engine heater tube and hose assembly. This condition may transmit a drone noise into the heater core. Use the following procedure to service this condition.

Figure 32 - Drone Noise Rectifying Procedure:

Bend the heater tube down to obtain 1/8" clearance between the clamp and the alternator brace as shown in Figure 32. If a 1/8" clearance cannot be obtained, install a 3/8" flat washer between the bracket and the brace.
NOTE: Only the 1984 vehicles which have been serviced per TSB Article No. 85-1-18, will be equipped with an alternator brace. All 1985 vehicles will have the alternator brace.
