To improve transmission driveability and shift feel for customers with sea level calibrated vehicles who may have relocated and/or continually operate the subject vehicle at high altitudes (above 4,000 feet altitude), the following transmission vacuum diaphragm modification is recommended:
Service Modification for High Altitude Operation:
^ Remove the transmission vacuum diaphragm attaching bolt, clip, and vacuum hose.
^ Remove and discard the production diaphragm and

TV control rod. Replace it with an altitude compensating diaphragm and corresponding TV control rod referenced in the chart shown in Figure 10.
^ Install the altitude diaphragm attaching clip referenced in the chart shown in Figure 10. Torque to specification. The vacuum hose may have to be changed to a longer length.
