Crown Victoria Bonnet Assembly

Removal
1. Remove the five (5) screws retaining the "C" pillar roof side exterior moulding assembly at the rear door openings as shown in Figure 2. Remove the mouldings by prying the top section loose from the retaining clips (three (3) each side.)
2. Remove the 2 fore and aft exterior "B" pillar mouldings from both sides of vehicle (4 screws per moulding). (Figure 2).
3. Remove the right and left coach lamp assemblies as outlined under Coach Lamp Replacement.

4. Remove the exterior roof side "A" pillar moulding assemblies from the front door openings as shown in Figure 3. Pry the mouldings away from the retainer clips.

5. Refer to Figure 2 and remove the right and left quarter and back belt mouldings by prying the studs out of the plastic retainers.
6. Drill out the pop rivets retaining the rear belt trim panel using a 1/8" (.125) drill bit with an adjustable stop set at a maximum depth of 3/8" and remove the panel.
7. Loosen the silicone seal around the back glass opening using a putty knife with rounded edges or other suitable tool that will not scratch the glass.
8. Remove exterior windshield mouldings as outlined in Section 43-11 of the 1984 Car Shop Manual.

9. Refer to Figure 3 and loosen the vinyl cover around the edges of the cap and pull up until the foam stop and rivets are exposed at the header and the rivets at the "B" pillars are accessible.
10. Using the 1/8" (.125) drill bit with adjustable stop set to maximum depth of 3/8", drill out all rivets from entire periphery of the cap.
11. Using 2 or more people, carefully lift the bonnet/cap assembly off the vehicle.
Installation
1. Reposition bonnet assembly on vehicle and to foam stop at header, align holes and rivet to roof using 1/8" x .325" flat head rivets.
2. Using Ford Vinyl Roof Adhesive (D9AZ-19C525-A) or equivalent, secure the padding and vinyl at windshield and "B" pillar and any other periphery areas as required. Smooth out all wrinkles and/or puckers.
3. Install the rear belt trim panel with 1/8" x .328 pop rivets.
4. Install all removed exterior mouldings.
5. Apply a bead of silicone rubber sealer around the backlight opening using Ford D6AZ-19562-A (clear), D6AZ-19562-B (black) or equivalent.
6. Install the coach lamps as outlined under the Coach Lamp Replacement procedure.
