Visual Inspection & Road Test Information

VISUAL INSPECTION

Check for damaged, distorted, or misaligned weatherstrips or glass flocked runs. Also check for missing sealer in areas such as the nose of the door and the joints at the top of the "A", "B", or "C" pillars and
roof line. Any small openings found at the joint areas mentioned above should be filled with body-caulk before road testing the vehicle.

ROAD TEST

The most effective way to locate a wind noise concern is to perform a road test. The road you select should be one on which you can drive at speeds of forty-five to fifty-five miles per hour. Make sure that the road is dry and as smooth as possible. Wet bumpy roads have a tendency to conceal wind noise concerns.

While your assistant drives the vehicle, move the stethoscope slowly along the suspected concern area, and listen for the point where the most noise is coming from.

NOTE: Remove the metal sound rod from the stethoscope before performing the test.

Also, drive the vehicle in both directions on the test road, as the prevailing wind conditions could affect the wind noise level.
