Starter Motor: Service and Repair
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Raise and support vehicle.
3. Remove starter shield, if equipped.
4. Disconnect starter cable from motor.
5. Remove starter attaching bolts and remove starter.
6. Reverse procedure to install noting the following:
a. Torque starter motor attaching bolts to 15-20 ft. lbs.
b. Torque starter cable attaching bolt to 70-110 inch lb.
NOTE: On some models it may be necessary to remove engine mounts, exhaust pipe and jack up engine to remove starter.
