When installing an anti-theft device that grounds the negative side of the ignition coil, a ballast resistance wire (D7AZ-12250-A) must be installed between the coil and grounding device as shown in Figure 5. This will prevent damage to the coil without interfering with the function of the grounding device. Failure to do this on a TFI ignition system may result in damage to the ignition coil due to the large current flow (20 amps) which results.
