This article supersedes Article 84-24-7 and is being republished to expand the symptom description and to correct the Engineering Vehicle Processor part numbers.

If a customer report is received for any of the following symptoms, the cause may be the EEC IV processor. Verify the symptoms and then check the new service processor number for correct application.

Symptom Descriptions

1. Driveline clunk during tip-in and tip-out throttle movement.
2. Engine speed fluctuation while trying to maintain engine rpm during a neutral "run-up" (speeds of approximately 2,000 to 2,500 rpm).
3. Trailer hitching in a low gear light throttle cruise (i.e., such as driving in a parking lot).

NOTE: Install processor and perform the EEC Quick Test, service as required.

Authorized Modifications Decal:

Obtain an Authorized Modifications decal and list the date, dealer number and summary of alterations performed. Select a prominent place adjacent to the Vehicle Emission Control Information decal suitable for installing the Authorized Modifications decal. Clean the area, install the decal and cover it with a clear plastic decal shield.
