Crown Victoria Backlite Replacement

FIGURE 5:

1. Remove the backlite interior garnish moulding (6 screws) as shown in Figure 5.
2. Follow the steps under Bonnet Removal and prop the bonnet assembly up approximately six inches above the backlite rather than lifting it off the roof.

3. Remove the 5 backlite to backlite extension retainers by drilling out the pop rivets with a 1/8" drill bit. (Figure 4).
4. Disconnect the heated backlite wire leads.

5. Replace the backlite glass as outlined in the Car Shop Manual in Section 43-11-Glass, StationaryButyl Type Seal.

6. Install the backlite glass retainers using 1/8" x .328 pop rivets.

7. Connect the heated backlite wires.

8. Remove the bonnet assembly prop and follow the steps under Bonnet Assembly Replacement.

9. Position the backlite garnish moulding and install the
(6) retaining screws.
