To service this condition, check more than (1) washer between fuel injector and manifold. (See Figure 29) Several washers would restrict the return fuel flow at the injector and cause it to leak and run rich.
Do not disassemble to diagnose this condition; use an inspection mirror and a penlite to check for more than
(1) washer. To remove excess washers, remove the fuel return manifold from the injectors as per section 22-06 of the 1983 Shop Manual. Reinstall the fuel return manifold in the reverse order, run the engine, check for fuel leaks, and test drive the vehicle.
