Fuel Shut-Off System
When the ignition switch is in the ON position, the fuel shut off solenoid is in the operational position.
- This allows fuel to flow through the idle system of the carburetor.
When the ignition switch is in the Off position, the solenoid releases, stopping the flow of fuel to the carburetor idle system.
On 1982-84 units, fuel flow through the idle system is shut off during deceleration as vehicle and engine sensors provide a signal to de-energize the idle fuel solenoid. The solenoid is automatically energized by the sensors to allow the engine to idle when necessary.
