If the "D" ring tilts, extraction of the seat belt webbing may be partially restricted by the weather strip when pulled along the roof rail. To service, add a spacer between the "D" ring and the "B" pillar mounting surface. Refer to Figure 10 for details (Spacer Part No. N803545-S).
NOTE: Any stool washer found on the "D" ring attachment must be discarded along with the attaching bolt. A replacement bolt with a larger head diameter must be installed and the black plastic spacer must be installed per Recall Bulletin No. 477.
1. Remove the "D" ring cover.
2. Remove the "D" ring anchor bolt.
3. Add a spacer (N803545-S) between the "D" ring and the "B" pillar mounting surface.
4. Install the "D" ring anchor bolt and torque between 30-43 N-m (22-32 ft.lbs.). Install the "D" ring cover.
NOTE: After the spacer has been installed and the "D" ring bolt is torqued, make sure the "D" ring is free to rotate on the bolt.
