Figure 9 - Wiring Assembly - Repairs:

The left front (driver's side) door wiring assembly that feeds the power door lock switches is routed through the large clearance opening in the forward upper area of the door inner panel sheet metal. It is possible for the wire to be cut on the sharp rear edge of the opening, resulting in inoperative door locks. This condition can be corrected by repairing the damaged wiring assembly and filing and taping the sharp edge using the following procedure. Figures 8 and 9.
1. Open left (driver's side) door and remove door trim panel assembly. Refer to the appropriate 1984-85 Car Shop Manual, Volume B, Section 45-03, Interior Trim.

2. Remove and retain door water shield.

3. Locate the cut (abraded) area on wiring assembly (14025/14631).

4. Repair damaged area as required and tape, using electrical tape (C8AZ-19628-D).

5. File burrs and radius sharp edge of clearance opening.

6. Use three (3) pieces of body tape (D6AZ-19627-A), approximately three (3) to six (6) inches long. Cover (tape) sharp edge of clearance opening, using the three (3) pieces on top of one another.

7. After repairs, cycle door locks to assure proper function.

8. Reinstall water shield.

9. Reinstall door trim panel assembly.
