Occasional reports have been received of overly sensitive 3-2 torque demand downshifts. To correct, replace the throttle pressure boost spring in the main control valve body as outlined in the following procedure.
1. Remove the main control valve body from the vehicle. Follow the valve body removal procedure in the appropriate model year Passenger Car Shop Manual section 17-07.
2. Visually check the color identification of the throttle pressure boost spring. Refer to the valve body illustration in the shop manual Section 17- 07 for location of the spring in the upper body. It can be visually inspected without removing the throttle pressure boost valve.
3. If the spring is red or has no color, replace it with the blue spring released for service (Part No. E4ZZ- 7A331-A). The spring can be removed and replaced without removing the timing valve body or separating the upper body from the lower body. Refer to the valve disassembly and assembly illustration in the shop manual section 17-07.
4. Install the valve body in the transmission according to the valve body installation procedure in Section 17-07 of the shop manual.
