1.Windshield Header Welt Replacement: Overview

Removal

1. Cover front of vehicle to protect painted surface and windshield.
2. Using a 1" flat bladed tool, insert between front edge of cap assembly and welt cord at center and loosen adhesive bond.
3. After loosening welt cord, continue to pull toward front of vehicle until completely removed.
4. Clean off all adhesive residue remaining on cap leading edge.

Installation

1. Select new welt cord assembly.
2. Apply process adhesive to top side of flap. (Figure 1).
3. Using a putty knife, pry up on front edge of cap. While prying up, tuck welt flap with adhesive side upward between cap and roof at center. Continue to pry and tuck remaining welt until completely seated.
4. Using a putty knife, tuck entire end of welt up on top of drip moulding at both front corners, leaving no raw edge showing.
5. Remove all protective covers.
6. Clean vehicle as required.
