Concerns of light throttle 2-3/3-2 shift hunting at approximately 24 mph can be resolved by installing a new design governor spring.
Installation of governor primary spring (7E467 - Color Brown)
1. Remove governor assembly using procedure shown in the 1984 Tempo/Topaz Car Shop Manual, Volume F, Section 17-25, Page 122.

2. Remove and discard governor spring (pink) and replace with service spring (brown) into either one of the governor spring positions as shown in Figure 5.
NOTE: Position one end of the governor spring onto the spring seat of the primary weight. Compress the spring and position the other end of the spring onto the spring seat of the secondary weight.
3. Install the modified governor assembly into the transaxle using the procedures referenced on Section 17-25, page 122.
