WARRANTY STATUS: "INFORMATION ONLY"
Setting Injection Timing Dynamic

FIGURE A - CLEANING LOCATION:

1. Completely clean the indicated portion of No. 1 high pressure fuel line (Figure A).
2. Install pressure transducer around No. 1 high pressure fuel line at position indicated (Figure A).

NOTE: Be sure entire contact surface of pressure transducer contacts fuel line. If not, replace pressure transducer.

FIGURE B - PRESSURE TRANSDUCER INSTALLATION:

3. Tighten pressure transducer clamp thumbscrew only enough to insure stability.

FIGURE C - ROTUNDA 014-00413 INJECTION PUMP ROTATING TOOL INSTALLATION:

4. Install Rotunda 014-00413 Injection Pump Rotating Tool, (Special Tool T84P-9000-B with D84P- 9000-C), or equivalent, on top of injection pump altitude compensator (Figure C).

5. Remove No. 3 front cam cover bolt and install turnbuckle bolt in its place (Figure C).

FIGURE D - ELECTROMAGNETIC PICKUP ADAPTER:

6. Remove plastic cover from flywheel access hole in transaxle housing. Install electromagnetic pickup adapter in access hole (Figure D).

FIGURE E - TIMING MARK POINTER:

NOTE: Be sure locating notch on adapter engages tip of flywheel timing mark pointer (Figure E).

FIGURE F - ELECTROMAGNETIC PICKUP INSTALLATION:

7. Connect Rotunda 078-000100 Dynamic Timing Meter and 2.0L Timing Adapter kit, (Rot. No. 078-00124), or equivalent, to the engine as follows:

^ Insert electromagnetic pickup into adapter (Figure F).

FIGURE G - SIGNAL CABLE CONNECTIONS:

^ Connect signal cable to ground and to pressure transducer (Figure G).

FIGURE H - TIMING METER ADJUSTMENT READINGS:

^ Connect timing meter battery cables to battery ("+" to jump start terminal, "-" to ground).

8. Set timing meter offset angle to -20.0 degrees. RPM meter should indicate 0000 (Figure H).
9. Start engine. Install Rotunda 014-00302 Throttle Control, or equivalent, and set engine speed to 2000-2500 rpm, no load. Warm engine up until engine cooling fan turns on.

10. Adjust engine speed to 750 +/- 10 rpm. Engine timing should be 8 +/- 1 degrees BTDC.

DYNAMIC TIMING SPECIFICATION AT NORMAL OPERATING TEMPERATURE 750 +/- 10 RPM AND NO LOAD

8 DEGREES BTDC +/- 1 DEGREE
11. If indicated timing is within specifications, disconnect timing meter, remove injection pump rotating tool and install No. 3 front cam cover bolt.

12. If indicated timing is not within specification, adjust pump timing as follows:

^ Loosen two injection pump mounting nuts and one bolt one half turn.

FIGURE J -TURNBUCKLE ROTATION:

^ Rotate turnbuckle counterclockwise to advance timing and clockwise to retard timing (Figure J).
^ Tighten injection pump mounting nuts to 19-26 N-m (14-19 ft.lbs.). Tighten mounting bolt to 31-46 N-m (23-34 ft.lbs.).

CAUTION: Disconnect the negative battery terminal before loosening or tightening the lower FIP mounting bolt.
13. Repeat Steps 10, 11 and 12. Readjust injection timing if necessary.

14. Disconnect timing meter, remove injection pump rotating tool and install No. 3 front cam cover bolt.
