STARTER ENGAGEMENT - VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL OR PARK, IGNITION SWITCH IN RUN AND A/C SWITCH ON
FORD 1984 TEMPO WITH ATX
LINCOLN-MERCURY 1984 TOPAZ WITH ATX
FIGURE 17:
Some Tempo/Topaz units may exhibit a starter motor engagement when the transmission selector is in neutral or park position, ignition switch in run position, and the A/C button is pressed to the on position. This condition can be serviced by removing a white with pink dot wire from an eight-terminal gray connector at the starter relay (Figure 17). The mating wire on the outboard side of the connector is yellow. On the engine side of the connector, the wire is white with pink dot.
After removal of the wire (white with pink dot) from the connector, properly tape the wire to the wiring assembly to protect it from shorting to ground.
