NOISE - STEERING COLUMN BEARING


FORD 1984 TEMPO

LINCOLN-MERCURY 1984 TOPAZ If a Customer concern is encountered regarding a scraping, raspy, grunting noise or vibration in the steering column, it may be caused by the bearing assembly in the steering column boot (at the dash panel).

Lubricate the bearing with Ford Polyethylene Grease (spray) (Part Number D7AZ-19584-A). Try to spray the grease between the white and black plastic portions of the bearing. If the lubrication does not correct the condition, replace the boot assembly (Part Number -3C611-) using appropriate Shop Manual procedure (13-04).
