ENGINE - 2.3L HSC - ENGINE CODE INFORMATION FOR ENGINES AT CHIHUAHUA ENGINE PLANT

LINCOLN-MERCURY 1984 TOPAZ

Early in September 1983, 2.3L HSC engines built in the Chihuahua Engine Plant will be installed in Tempo/Topaz vehicles built at the Oakville Assembly Plant. Units built with these engines will have the letter "J" at the eighth position (engine code) in the VIN, rather than "R" for the Lima-built 2.3L HSC.

Warranty parts returned from these units are to be forwarded to the Chihuahua Engine Plant by way of:
