The Shop Manual procedure for servicing the engine rear seal outlines engine removal from the vehicle. This procedure is intended for ATX transaxle vehicles to preclude damage that could occur to the engine or transaxle if the assemblies were removed separately.
When servicing the engine rear seal on MTX transaxle vehicles, remove the transaxle from the vehicle as outlined in Section 16 of the 1984 Car Shop Manual E.
Operation Number 6701-A is to be used having a time of 2.8 hours.
