Front Seat - Insufficient Height

Insufficient seat height for short statured persons can be rectified by installing spacers between the front seat track and front seat cushions at the front seat mounting attachments (Figure 2).
DRIVER'S SEAT TOO LOW FOR SHORT STATURED PERSONS Tempo/Topaz - All Models - 1984

1. Obtain the following parts:

N801357-S2 Screw M8x1.25x35.5 Hex Washer Head (4 Required) 382629-S100 - Washer 7/16 Flat (8 Required)

2. Remove the seat and track assembly from the vehicle. Refer to the appropriate removal procedure contained in Section 41 of the appropriate Car Shop Manual.
3. Remove and discard the four (4) bolts used to retain the seat tracks to the seat cushion.

4. Install two (2) Washers 382629-S100 between the front seat track and the front seat cushion at each front seat mounting attachment. Refer to Figure 2.
5. Install the specified longer seat track attaching bolts (N801357-S2) torque the seat track to seat cushion attaching bolts to 12-24 N-m (9-18 ft.lbs.).

NOTE: If the seat is equipped with an inertia seat back latch, check the latch for proper operation (sensitivity test) before installing the seat assembly in the vehicle as specified in Part 41 of the appropriate Car Shop Manual.
6. Install the seat and track assembly in the vehicle. Torque the seat track to the floor pan attaching screws 12-24 N-m (9-18 ft.lbs.).
7. Check the seat tracks for proper operation.
