If clunking/ratcheting noise is heard in the front suspension coil spring area during low speed turning maneuvers, the noise may be caused by the upper mount bearing. This condition can be verified by turning the steering wheel with the vehicle in stationary position. To service this condition, replace the strut upper mount bearing, (Part Number E43Z-3B455-C), and the spring insulator, (Part Number E43Z-5415-A), by following the procedure outlined in the 1984 Tempo/Topaz Car Shop Manual, Section 14-10-5.
