Engine - High Idle Speed

High idle speeds may be caused by a phosphate coating on the carburetor retaining nuts. This coating can interrupt the electrical ground path for the choke cap. When this occurs, the electric choke bimetal will not come off and the throttle stays on the high cam.
This concern can be corrected by replacing the two retaining nuts, one at a time, so that the carburetor-tospacer sealing is not affected. Tighten nuts to 17-20 N-m (12-15 ft.lbs.).
