Drive complaints of severe hesitation during acceleration, erratic high idle speed, stalling at idle or a no start condition may be caused by a sticking throttle position sensor. Fuel may enter the sensor and cause the rotor to swell and bind against the housing bearing. To correct this, a new designed sensor (E7SZ-9B989-B) should be installed using the following diagnostic/ repair procedure.
1. Perform EEC IV Quick Test (as outlined in Volume H). Service codes 23 or 73 should be present.
2. Remove the old throttle position sensor and install the new throttle position sensor (E7SZ-9B989-B). Verify the repair by performing the EEC IV Quick Test.
