The low oil level sensor, installed on vehicles built between December 17, 1984 through February 2, 1985, may have low electrical resistance through the sensor (100K OHM or less). At 100K OHM or less the sensor will illuminate the low oil level light regardless of oil level in the engine.
Service technicians should follow the diagnostic procedure outlined in Section 33-40, Volume B, of the 1985 Car Shop Manual, to determine whether or not the oil level sensor is at fault.
All suspect production and service parts have been removed and replaced with new parts. The new certified parts are identified with a yellow dot.
