Article No. 85-9-34

NOISE - CLICKING SOUND DURING LIGHT MODERATE ACCELERATIONS - 2.3L EFI TURBO

FORD 1985 THUNDERBIRD, MUSTANG

LINCOLN-MERCURY 1985 COUGAR

If a clicking noise is heard on light to moderate accelerations (more noticeable in cold weather), the sound may be coming from the Turbo Boost Control Solenoid. Perform the following procedure to insulate the solenoid and eliminate the noise.

1. Remove the Turbo Boost Control Solenoid from the right inner fender.

2. Remove the original mounting screws and eyelets from the rubber grommets and discard.

3. Insert new service eyelets into each grommet (insert grommets from electrical connector side), and reattach the Turbo Boost Control Solenoid using two sheet metal screws.
