The connector for the ashtray light on floor consoles is not used on vehicles equipped with the seat consolette. This unused connector may be free to move about within the consolette area, possible contacting the seat consolette frame. This could cause a short circuit and blow the fuse, resulting in no instrument panel lights.

In these cases, remove the consolette switch plate (snaps out) and locate the gray two-way connector located near the rear of the consolette. Cover terminals of connector by wrapping end of connector with electrical tape. Then tape connector to wire harness. (See Figure 5)
