A road load engine surge occurring between 45 to 55 mph can be serviced by increasing the spark plug gap and installing a new EGR valve.
If, after performing normal diagnostic procedures, the concern is still present, service as follows:
1. Gap the spark plugs to 0.054 inch gap.
2. Replace the EGR valve with valve E5SZ-9H473- A.
Authorized Modifications Decal:
Obtain an Authorized Modifications decal and list the date, dealer number and summary of alterations performed. Select a prominent place adjacent to the Vehicle Emission Control Information decal suitable for installing the Authorized Modifications decal. Clean the area, install the decal and cover it with a clear plastic decal shield.
