Oil consumption or spark plug fouling on 1985 model vehicles built prior to March 1, 1985 equipped with a 3.8L engine may be caused by oil leakage past the intake valve stem seals.

This condition can also cause customer concern for spark knock, hesitation, surge, poor idle or engine stall and can be serviced by replacement of the intake valve stem seals, part number E3DZ-6571-A. Oversize seals will be released for high mileage vehicles upon part availability early 1986 year.
