The following vehicles are equipped with an antidieseling timer relay that requires testing for a potential battery drain.
1983 A/C 3.8L CFI Vehicles - Post Job No. 1, 5O States and Canada; 1984 A/C 3.8L CFI Vehicles - Canada; 1984 A/C 3.8L Carbureted LTD/Marquis - 49 States; 1985 A/C 3.8L CFI Vehicles - Canada Only
The anti-dieseling timer relay on these vehicles will be energized during the constant current drain test outlined in TSB 84-15-9, dated 7/18/84. The energized current drain will be approximately 3-1/2 to 4 amps for a duration of 5 to 10 seconds. Therefore, it is important to allow at least 15 seconds to pass (after ammeter hook up) before observing any current measurements.
