FUEL INJECTORS - 2.3L HSC CFI - SERVICE AVAILABILITY

It is no longer necessary to replace the whole CFI main body just to install a new injector. Individual service injectors are now available, and can be replaced individually as required. This applies to all vehicles and calibrations as shown below.

When installing the injectors, use the following procedure.
INJECTOR REPLACEMENT

Disassembly

1. Remove the fuel injector retaining screw and retainer.

2. Remove the injector assembly and lower O-ring.

Assembly

NOTE: This procedure is different from that shown in the Shop Manual, Section E, page 24-03-4.

1. Lubricate the new lower O-ring and injector seat area with clean engine oil. (Do not use transmission oil.)

2. Install the lower O-ring on the injector.

3. Lubricate the upper O-ring, clean and lubricate the throttle body O-ring seat.

4. Install the injector by centering and applying a steady downward pressure with a slight rotational force.

5. Install the injector retainer and retaining screw.

6. Tighten retainer screw to 2.0-2.5 N-m (18-22 in.lbs.).
