FUEL INJECTOR/FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR - LEAKING - 2.3L HSC CFI
FORD 1985 TEMPO
LINCOLN-MERCURY 1985 TOPAZ
Leaking fuel injectors or fuel pressure regulator can result in no/hard start, flooding/loading driveability concerns. These components can be checked for a "leakage" condition in the following manner:
Figure 9 - FUEL CHARGING ASSEMBLY - CFI - LOW PRESSURE:
1. With engine/ignition key in "off" position, disconnect the fuel inlet and outlet lines at the fuel charging assembly. (See Figure 9).
2. Connect a vacuum hand pump Rotunda Tool 021- 00014 or 021-00037 to the fuel inlet line on the fuel charging assembly and apply 15-17 in. Hg.
3. Leaking injectors or fuel pressure regulator will be indicated by a loss of vacuum on the vacuum pump gauge.
4. Replace the fuel charging assembly if a vacuum loss occurs.
5. New fuel line retaining clips must be used when reinstalling fuel lines to fuel charging assembly.
