Production muffler assemblies were released for Job No. 1, 1984, with a 1/8 inch diameter drain hole in the front face of the muffler head just below the inlet pipe to prevent moisture build up in the muffler body.

In some cases, the drain hole is being mis-diagnosed as a defect (hole in pan, exhaust leak, etc.) because the muffler assembly is being replaced under warranty. Under no circumstances should the muffler assembly be changed because of this drain hole.
