When the current "Type 3" manual steering gear assemblies are depleted from service stock, the "Type 5" gear should be used as the replacement assembly. The "Type 5" gear has a different appearance, but has been modified to fit prior model year applications. If any further service is required on the "Type 5" gear, the 1986 Car Shop Manual should be used.

NOTE: Detail service parts for the "Type 3" manual gear will still be available.
