SURGING/BUCKING DURING ACCELERATION - 2.3L HSC/HSO AND 2.5L HSC - INTAKE MANIFOLD LOOSE
FORD 1984-86 TEMPO; 1986 TAURUS
LINCOLN-MERCURY 1984-86 TOPAZ; 1986 SABLE
Surging and bucking during acceleration may be caused by a loose intake manifold. A loose intake manifold may damage the intake manifold gasket. To correct this, first check the intake manifold attaching bolts for proper torque. If any of the bolts are loose, replace the intake manifold gasket and relearn the idle speed strategy per TSB 86-12-8 or the Engine Emission Diagnostic Manual, Volume H, Section 4.
NOTE: Canadian calibration (Tempo/Topaz only) - reset idle RPM and propane gain RPM to specification following intake manifold replacement procedure.
